Dice Duel

Dice Duel is a quick dice game with a satisfying throw. You flick two chunky dice across a wooden tray ten times, and your totals add up to a score. In HIGH mode the biggest total wins; in LOW mode you want the smallest.
It is made for short breaks, family evenings and friendly bets of bragging rights. A match takes a few minutes, the rules fit on one card, and the twist of a single re-roll and a double-value final throw gives you real choices to make.
How to play
- Flick the dice up the tray to throw, or press and hold, then let go.
- Each player gets ten throws, and the totals of all throws are added up.
- In HIGH mode the highest total wins and any double adds 5 points.
- In LOW mode the lowest total wins, and double ones (snake eyes) score zero.
- The tenth throw is the final throw and counts double.
- Once per match, after a throw, you may tap one die to re-roll it and keep the other.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Flick the dice up the tray with your finger, or hold and release. Tap a die to use your re-roll.
On a computer
Drag with the mouse, or hold Space, Enter or Up and release to throw. Keys 1 and 2 (or Left and Right) re-roll a die; Space or Enter keeps both.
Game modes
Solo
Chase your best score in HIGH or LOW, and try the daily dice, which are the same for every player that day.
Vs computer
Alternate throws with an easy, medium or hard rival. Its dice are just as random as yours; the levels differ in when it chooses to re-roll.
2 players
Pass the phone and take turns throwing on one device.
Party (QR)
Put the tray on a big screen and let a whole room join with their phones and throw at the same time.
Tips
- Consider saving your re-roll for the final throw, where every point counts twice.
- In LOW mode, a six is usually the die to re-roll.
- In HIGH mode a double is worth an extra 5, so a re-roll that could make a pair can pay off.
- Snake eyes in LOW is the dream throw: it scores zero.
- Compare daily scores with friends, since everyone gets the same dice.
About the game
Dice Duel builds on the oldest kind of game there is: roll and add. Small rules borrowed from traditional dice play, a bonus for pairs, a special value for double ones and a double-score last throw, turn pure luck into a few real decisions.
On a phone the flick feels like tossing dice across a table, and passing the phone makes it a natural two-player game. On a desktop you can use the mouse or the keyboard, and the big screen works well for party nights.
