Rummy Royale is the Indian 13-card rummy you may know from family gatherings and long train journeys, set at a polished card table you can open in any browser. You draw, discard and shuffle your hand into runs and sets until every card has a home, then declare and let the game check your groups.
It suits anyone who enjoys a thinking card game with a little luck in the deal. Valid groups light up with their name as you build them, so newcomers learn the rules by playing, while experienced players can focus on reading the discards. It is played for points only, with no money involved.
How to play
- You are dealt 13 cards, and the rank of the cut card becomes the wild joker for that deal; printed jokers are wild too.
- On your turn, take the top card of the closed deck or the open card, then discard one card.
- Arrange your hand into sequences (three or more cards in a row of one suit) and sets (three or four of the same rank in different suits).
- To declare you need at least two sequences, one of them pure with no joker, and every card must sit in a valid group.
- Select your fourteenth card and tap DECLARE; the game checks your hand and scores everyone else.
- Other players count their ungrouped cards, with aces and face cards worth 10, up to 80 points. Lowest total wins.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap the deck or the open card to draw, tap a card and DISCARD, or drag cards between groups and onto the open pile. SORT tidies your hand.
On a computer
Use the mouse the same way: click to draw and select, drag to regroup cards or to throw one onto the open pile.
Game modes
Vs computer
Sit at a table of two to six seats with computer players on easy, medium or hard. Stronger opponents meld sensibly and keep an eye on what you throw away.
Pass and play
Two people share one device, with a privacy screen between turns so neither sees the other's hand.
Online private table
Create a table and share its code or invite link with up to three friends. The host deals and each device only ever receives its own hand.
Daily deal
Everyone gets the same deal today, and playing on consecutive days builds a streak.
Tips
- Make your pure sequence first; without it, no declare is valid.
- Throw away high cards you cannot use early, since an ace or king left over costs 10 points if someone declares.
- If a rival picks up an open card, avoid discarding its neighbours in the same suit.
- Keep the wild joker for an impure sequence or a set, not for a pure one where it does not count.
About the game
Thirteen-card rummy is one of the most widely played card games in India, part of the large draw-and-discard rummy family. Rummy Royale keeps the traditional rules, including the cut-card wild joker and the 80-point cap.
On a phone in portrait, your hand fans along the bottom and dragging feels natural; on a desktop screen, the wider table shows every seat and the discards at a glance. You can choose a single deal or a three-deal match, and coins you earn (which have no cash value) unlock new tables and card backs.
Questions
- Is Rummy Royale free?
- Yes. It plays free in your browser, and all scores and coins are points only, with no real money and no prizes.
- Can I play with friends online?
- Yes. Open an online private table, share the code or link, and up to four people can play, each seeing only their own cards.
- What happens if I declare a wrong hand?
- The game checks every group when you declare, so an invalid declare is caught and scored rather than accepted.
