Melody Tiles

Play Melody Tiles now · free, no download, no sign-up
Melody Tiles turns your screen into a falling piano keyboard. Black tiles scroll down four lanes, and each one you tap plays the next note of a song. Hit them all in order and you have played the whole melody yourself, from a gentle lullaby to a thundering march.
It is a quick rhythm game for anyone who likes music, from kids learning their first tunes to adults chasing speed. The songs are classics that are free for everyone to play, such as Ode to Joy, Für Elise, Greensleeves and In the Hall of the Mountain King. Finish a song and it plays again, faster.
How to play
- Tap the black tiles from the bottom up; each tile plays the next note of the song.
- Hold long tiles until they have passed completely.
- Don't let a tile slip past the bottom, and don't tap the empty white spaces; either ends the song.
- Earn up to three stars per song as you play through it.
- Finish the song and it starts again faster: an encore.
- Stars unlock new songs.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap the black tiles with your fingers; two thumbs work well, one for each side.

Nine songs, including Twinkle Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Jingle Bells, Brahms' Lullaby and Minuet in G. New songs unlock as you collect stars.
Encore
After the last note the song loops faster and faster, so you can see how long you keep up.
Tips
- Use two thumbs: one for the left lanes, one for the right.
- Look ahead at the next tile, not the one you are tapping.
- Hold long tiles all the way for bonus points.
- Slow songs are the best way to earn your first stars.
- On a keyboard, rest your fingers on D, F, J and K before you start.
About the game
Melody Tiles follows the falling-tile piano games that became popular on phones, where the music only plays if you keep tapping. All the songs here are old public-domain melodies, so you are playing real pieces by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms and Grieg.
Phones suit it best, played in portrait with fingers or thumbs. On a desktop the four keys turn the keyboard into a small piano.
