Word Grid is a five-letter word guessing game. You have six tries to find the hidden word, and after each guess the tiles change colour to show which letters are right, which are in the word but in the wrong place, and which are not in it at all.
It is a calm, clever puzzle for word lovers, with a daily word that is the same for everyone and unlimited practice games for when one puzzle is not enough. For something livelier, you can race the computer or a friend to the same word.
How to play
- Type a five-letter word and press Enter.
- Green means the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
- Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot.
- Grey means the letter is not in the word.
- Use the clues to narrow it down and find the word within six guesses.
- In Hard mode, every revealed hint must be used in your later guesses.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap the letters on the on-screen keyboard and press Enter to submit.
On a computer
Type on your keyboard and press Enter; Backspace removes a letter.

Tips
- Start with a word that uses common vowels and consonants, such as one with A, E, R, S or T.
- Use your second guess to test new letters rather than repeating ones you already know.
- Remember that letters can appear twice in the answer.
- When several words fit, pick a guess that rules out the most options.
- In a race, a fast reasonable guess often beats a slow perfect one.
