Bomb Buddies is a maze battle for up to four round clay critters. You walk the arena, drop bombs that burst in a cross shape, and try to catch your rivals in the blast while staying out of it yourself. Crates break open to reveal power-ups, bombs set off other bombs, and the last buddy standing takes the round.
It is made for short, noisy sessions: a quick duel against the computer, a story run against monsters, or a party with friends crowded around one keyboard or one phone. Rounds are fast, a match is best of three, and every arena has its own trick, so no two fights feel the same.
How to play
- Move through the maze and drop a bomb; after a short fuse it blasts in a cross along the open lanes.
- Blasts break crates, set off any other bomb they reach and knock out every buddy they touch, including you.
- Crates can hide power-ups: an extra bomb, a bigger blast, more speed, a kick, a shield or a remote detonator.
- With the kick you walk into a bomb to send it sliding; with the remote your bombs wait until you press the detonate button.
- The last buddy standing wins the round, and the first to win two rounds wins the match.
- When the clock reaches hurry-up time, blocks fall from the sky and the arena shrinks around everyone.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Use the on-screen stick to walk and the BOMB button to drop a bomb, plus BOOM when you hold the remote. In party mode two players share one phone, one at each end.
On a computer
Walk with WASD or the arrow keys, drop bombs with Space and detonate with E. In party mode up to four people share a keyboard: WASD+Space, arrows+Enter, IJKL+U and the number pad.
Game modes
Story
A 20-stage adventure against monsters: clear them all, find the exit hidden under a crate, and earn stars for a fast, clean finish.
Vs computer
Battle one to three computer buddies on easy, medium or hard.
Party
Two to four players on one device, sharing a keyboard or a phone.
Online
Open a private table for two to four friends on their own devices; computer buddies fill any empty seats.
Daily
A new battle every day; win it to keep your streak going.
Tips
- After dropping a bomb, step around a corner so a pillar stands between you and the cross.
- Line bombs up so one blast sets off the next and reaches further than any single bomb.
- A kicked bomb slides until it hits something, so it can catch a rival from far away.
- The shield takes one blast for you, then you blink for a moment; use that time to escape.
- Knocked-out buddies drop some of their power-ups, so move in quickly once the smoke clears.
About the game
Bomb Buddies builds on the classic grid-maze bombing games of the arcade and console era, with five original arenas: a sunny garden, a toy factory with conveyor belts, an ice cavern where you slide, a lava forge with vents and a night market with portals. New critters can be unlocked in the shop.
On a phone the game uses a thumb stick and big buttons, and two people can play face to face on one screen. On a desktop the shared keyboard layout makes it an easy four-player party game.
