City Shield

Play City Shield now · free, no download, no sign-up
City Shield puts you in charge of a neon city at night while rockets streak down towards its skyline. You tap the sky, an interceptor flies to that spot and bursts into a glowing blast, and anything caught inside explodes too. Get the timing right and one shot sets off a chain reaction that clears half the sky.
It is easy to pick up, because a single tap is all you need, but it rewards planning: ammunition is limited, waves speed up, and new kinds of threat keep arriving. It works well for a quick round on a phone or a longer push for a high score on a computer.
How to play
- Tap or click anywhere in the sky; an interceptor flies there and bursts into a blast.
- Rockets caught in a blast explode, and their blasts can catch more rockets for a chain reaction.
- You have three batteries with ten interceptors each per wave, and the middle battery fires fastest.
- Watch for splitting warheads that fork, bombers that drop rockets, and smart bombs that dodge blasts.
- Leftover interceptors and surviving cities earn a bonus at the end of every wave.
- You get a bonus city every 10,000 points; lose every city and the game is over.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap the sky where you want a blast; the nearest battery fires. In two-player mode each player defends one half of the screen.
On a computer
Click to fire from the nearest battery, or press 1, 2, 3 or A, S, D to fire from a chosen battery. With two players, one aims a crosshair with WASD and fires with Space while the other uses the mouse.
Game modes
Solo
Defend the city wave after wave for a high score and medals.
Daily
The same raid for every player today.
Vs computer
Split screen: you and the computer defend identical cities against identical raids for five waves, on easy, medium or hard.
2 players
Two people split the skyline on one device, each defending their own half.
Tips
- Aim a little ahead of a rocket so it flies into your blast.
- Let rockets bunch together, then catch the whole group in one chain.
- Hit splitting warheads high up, before they fork into several rockets.
- Smart bombs slip around blasts, so they need a direct hit.
- Use all three batteries so no single one runs dry while rockets are still falling over it.
About the game
City Shield builds on the classic arcade idea of defending cities from falling missiles with blast-radius interceptors. It adds a night-time neon look, chain-reaction combos, bombers, satellites and five skyline themes you can unlock with coins.
On a phone the whole game is played with taps, which makes it quick and precise in portrait. On a desktop you can click or use number keys to pick a battery, and two players can share a keyboard and mouse.
