Color Echo

Play Color Echo now · free, no download, no sign-up
Color Echo is a memory game of light and sound. Coloured pads light up one after another, each singing its own note, and you play the sequence back in the same order. Every round adds one more note, so the tune keeps growing until something slips.
It is gentle enough for children and quiet evenings, and sharp enough to keep adults counting under their breath. Each pad has its own shape as well as its own colour and note, so you can remember by sight, by sound or both. Five variants, a computer opponent, two-player duels and a daily sequence give you plenty of ways to test yourself.
How to play
- Watch and listen as the pads light up and play their notes one after another.
- Tap the pads back in exactly the same order.
- If you get it right, the sequence plays again with one more note added.
- One wrong pad ends the run; your score is the longest sequence you repeated.
- Fast plays at double speed, Reverse asks for the sequence backwards, Chaos swaps the pads around after every playback, and Expert uses six pads.
- In duels you repeat the whole shared sequence and then add one note of your own; the first player to slip loses.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap the glowing pads. In race mode the screen is split so both players tap their own set of pads at the same time.
On a computer
Click the pads, or use the arrow keys or the number keys 1 to 6. In race mode one player uses WASD and the other the arrow keys.
Game modes
Solo
Play Classic, Fast, Reverse, Chaos or Expert and beat your best length for stars and coins.
Vs computer
Build one shared sequence with the computer, which remembers like an easy, medium or hard player.
2 players
Take turns on one device in a duel, or race on a split screen where both of you repeat the same sequence at once.
Daily
Today's sequence, the same for everyone, with a streak for playing day after day.
Tips
- Hum along: the notes form little tunes, and a tune is easier to remember than a list of colours.
- Split long sequences into chunks of three or four.
- In Chaos, follow the colour and the sound rather than the position, because the pads move.
- In Reverse, say the sequence to yourself forwards once, then play it from the end.
- Against the computer, add a note that makes the tune awkward rather than one that fits the pattern.
About the game
Color Echo builds on the electronic memory toys with four coloured buttons that many people played with as children. It keeps the watch-and-repeat idea and adds new twists, notes from a gentle scale, and five sound sets from crystal to kalimba that you can unlock along with pad themes.
On a phone the pads are large and easy to tap in portrait. On a desktop you can play with the mouse or keep your hands on the keyboard, which makes the fast and expert variants feel quicker.
