Ghostline is a top-down stealth game. You slip into a facility, steal three data shards and reach the exit without getting caught. Every facility is generated fresh, so you never learn one map by heart; you learn how the guards think instead.
The guards are what make it tense. They walk patrol routes, look around at the end of each leg, see in cones that walls block, and hear running footsteps. If one spots you, it radios its friends and they search the area. It is a game for patient players who enjoy reading patterns and finding the perfect moment to move.
How to play
- Move through the facility and pick up all three data shards, then head to the exit.
- Guards see in cones. Walls block their sight, and their detection meter fills faster the closer you are.
- Walking is almost silent. Sprinting is fast but loud, and guards come to investigate noises.
- Throw a decoy to make a beeping lure that pulls guards away from where you want to go.
- Use the cloak to become invisible for three seconds. It needs time to recharge afterwards.
- Guards who spot you call nearby guards and search around your last known position. Get caught and the run ends.
- Finish a level without ever being spotted for a large ghost bonus.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Drag anywhere on the screen to use the on-screen stick; push it fully out to sprint. Tap the CLOAK and DECOY buttons on the right.
On a computer
Move with WASD or the arrow keys and hold Shift to sprint. Press Space or E to cloak and Q to throw a decoy. A gamepad also works.
Game modes
Infiltration run
A solo run through a chain of generated facilities. Each level you clear takes you deeper, and your best score and furthest level are kept.
Tips
- Guards pause and look around at the end of each patrol leg. Move while they are facing away.
- Throw a decoy into another room to empty a corridor for a few seconds.
- Cameras do not move, but they alert the nearest guards when they see you.
- Each alarm raises the alert level and lets guards see further, so stay quiet early in a level.
- Only sprint when nobody is close enough to hear.
- Save the cloak for crossing an open space you cannot avoid.
About the game
Ghostline draws on the tradition of stealth action games, where avoiding a fight is the goal and the guards' senses are the real opponent. Here those ideas are packed into short top-down levels with sight cones you can see, so you always know why you were spotted.
On a phone you steer with a floating stick and tap large buttons for the cloak and decoy. On a desktop the keyboard gives precise movement and quick access to every tool.
