Play Lantern Leap now · free, no download, no sign-up
Lantern Leap is a side-scrolling platformer about a small lantern spirit finding its way home through the dark. Your glow is both your guide and your tool: it reveals platforms that only exist in light and keeps shadow creatures at bay, but it slowly fades as you travel.
The game is built for players who enjoy precise, responsive jumping, from casual platformer fans to people chasing every collectible. Four painted worlds, a moonlit forest, old ruins, crystal caves and a temple above the clouds, each hold eight levels, and every world ends with a boss.
How to play
- Run left and right and jump; hold jump longer to leap higher, and jump off walls to climb.
- You can dash once while in the air to cross big gaps, and landing or wall-jumping gives the dash back.
- Purple shade crystals are only solid inside your light, so keep your lantern bright to stand on them.
- Shadow creatures are harmless while lit but dangerous in the dark.
- Glow-moths and lantern posts refill your light, and lantern posts also act as checkpoints.
- Collect the three star-sparks hidden in each level; in boss fights, kindle the glowing braziers and step out from under the dark rain.

A and D or the arrow keys run, Space, W, Up or Z jumps, and Shift, X or K dashes. In two-player mode one player uses A, D, W and F, the other the arrow keys with Down to dash.
Game modes
Adventure
Play through all 32 levels solo, collecting star-sparks and beating the bosses.
Vs ghost
Race a ghost runner through a level on easy, medium or hard.
Two players
Share one screen with a friend, either racing each other or working together in co-op.
Tips
- Use variable jump height: a short tap is often safer than a full jump near spikes or low ceilings.
- Save your air dash for gaps you cannot clear by jumping; a wall jump refreshes it.
- Keep an eye on your light level and route past glow-moths before crossing a section of shade crystals.
- Touch every lantern post you pass so a mistake sends you back only a short way.
- Star-sparks are often placed off the obvious path, so explore high ledges and wall-jump shafts.
About the game
Lantern Leap draws on the tradition of tight, skill-based platformers, adding a single twist: light as a resource. Because hidden platforms and enemy behaviour depend on your glow, each level becomes a small puzzle about where to recharge and when to push on.
The controls include forgiving touches like a short grace period after leaving a ledge and buffered jumps, which matter on touch screens. Phones get large on-screen buttons in landscape or portrait, while desktop players get a full keyboard layout. Embers you collect buy new lantern colours.
