Mine Meadow
Play Mine Meadow now · free, no download, no sign-up
Mine Meadow is the classic mine-finding logic puzzle, set in a bright, sunny meadow. Hidden under the grass are a number of mines. Each safe square you dig shows how many mines touch it, and from those numbers you work out where every mine must be.
It is a game of pure deduction with a little nerve. Your first dig is always safe, so every board starts fairly, and three board sizes let you choose between a quick puzzle and a long session. If you like logic puzzles and beating your own best time, this is a relaxing place to do it.
How to play
- Tap a grass square to dig it. Your first dig is always safe.
- A number shows how many mines touch that square, including diagonals.
- Long-press a square, or switch to flag mode, to mark a mine with a flag.
- Tap a number whose mines are all flagged to dig every other square around it.
- Dig up every safe square to win.
- Digging a mine ends the game.
- Stuck? SCAN reveals one safe square.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap to dig and long-press to plant a flag. The mode button switches between dig mode and flag mode if you prefer plain taps.
On a computer
Click to dig and hold the mouse button down on a square to flag it, or use the mode button to switch between digging and flagging.
Game modes
Small
A 9 by 9 meadow with 10 mines, good for a short game.
Medium
A 10 by 14 meadow with 24 mines.
Large
A 12 by 18 meadow with 44 mines for a longer challenge. Each size keeps its own best time.
Tips
- A 1 that touches only one hidden square means that square is a mine.
- Corners and edges often give the easiest clues.
- Flag mines first, then tap the numbers to clear around them quickly.
- Once a number has all its mines flagged, every other neighbour is safe.
- Save SCAN for a true guess rather than a hard deduction.
About the game
Mine Meadow follows the mine-finding puzzle that has been a favourite on home computers for decades, with the same rules and a friendlier look. Grass, flowers and soft colours replace the grey grid, and big clear numbers make the board easy to read.
On a phone the board fits a portrait screen, and long-press flagging works naturally with a thumb. On a desktop you can see a large board at once and play quickly with the mouse.
