Skyfire

Play Skyfire now · free, no download, no sign-up
Skyfire is a vertical-scrolling plane shooter in the style of the old arcade cabinets. Your propeller plane flies up the screen over the Pacific islands, a desert storm and an arctic front while enemy formations sweep in. Your guns fire on their own; your job is to move, dodge bullets and stay alive.
It is for players who enjoy a bit of action with clear goals. Missions are short, every one ends with a boss fight against a huge Flying Fortress, and the coins you collect go into permanent hangar upgrades, so each attempt leaves you a little stronger.
How to play
- Drag anywhere to fly; your plane follows your finger and its guns fire automatically.
- Shoot down a whole red squadron to drop a Power upgrade, up to five guns.
- Getting hit costs a heart and one power level; repair kits restore a heart.
- A bomb clears every bullet on screen, and Support calls two wingmen for a few seconds.
- Each mission ends with a Flying Fortress boss in three phases.
- Finish a mission without being hit to earn three stars, and spend coins in the hangar.

Tips
- Your hitbox is only the cockpit, so you can squeeze between bullets.
- Keep moving sideways: aimed shots cannot follow you.
- Divers lock on to where you are, so sidestep just before they arrive.
- Save a bomb for the Fortress' third phase.
- Upgrade Power in the hangar to start every mission with more guns.
About the game
Skyfire draws on the classic propeller-plane shoot-'em-ups of the arcade era, with wedge formations, divers, slow bombers that fire bullet rings and a giant flying boss at the end of each stage. It keeps the rules simple and lets the patterns do the talking.
On a phone the plane follows your finger one to one in portrait, which makes precise dodging easy. On desktop you can fly with the keyboard or the mouse.
