Hoop Shootout

Play Hoop Shootout now · free, no download, no sign-up
Hoop Shootout recreates the arcade basketball machine on a projected wall. A hoop slides from side to side, and you score by throwing a soft ball inside its rim. A ball that hits the painted square on the backboard counts too, as a bank shot, while rim hits clang away.
It is built for events and activations where a LiDAR sensor detects each ball, but you can play it right here with a tap or a click. Rounds are short and loud, which makes it good for a quick challenge between friends or a warm-up before you play at a stand.
How to play
- Throw, tap or click inside the rim area of your hoop to score a basket worth one point.
- Hit the painted square on the backboard for a bank shot, which also counts.
- Golden brand hoops appear now and then and are worth three points.
- Make three baskets in a row to go on fire: every basket then earns an extra point.
- The hoops speed up as time runs out and start bobbing up and down in the second half.
- The last 15 seconds count double; after two minutes the higher score wins.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap inside the hoop's rim to shoot. With two players, the left half of the screen is player 1 and the right half player 2.
On a computer
Click on the hoop with the mouse. Operators can use Space or Enter to start, Esc to pause and R for the title.
Game modes
Solo
One hoop moves across the whole wall; beat your best score in two minutes.
Vs computer
A virtual shooter takes the right-hand hoop at easy, medium or hard.
2 players
Left half against right half, each with its own hoop. Most points wins.
Tips
- Aim where the hoop is going, not where it is, especially once it starts sliding faster.
- Protect your streak: three in a row puts you on fire, so one careful shot beats two rushed ones.
- When a golden hoop appears, it is worth three normal baskets, so make that shot count.
- Keep something in reserve for the last 15 seconds, when every basket scores double.
- If the hoop is bobbing, the backboard square is a bigger, steadier target.
About the game
Coin-operated basketball machines have been an arcade staple for decades: a timer, a moving hoop and a crowd cheering every swish. Hoop Shootout keeps that rhythm with a two-minute clock, a hoop that gets faster and harder to track, and a final frenzy where points double.
At events a LiDAR sensor turns the wall into a giant touch surface, so players just throw soft balls. On a phone, the wall fits the screen in landscape and you tap; on a desktop, you click. Either way you see the same swishes, net ripples and on-fire streaks.
