Ball Tic-Tac-Toe

Play Ball Tic-Tac-Toe now · free, no download, no sign-up
Ball Tic-Tac-Toe is the notebook game on a giant chalkboard. It is made for events: the grid is projected on a wall, players throw soft balls at it and a LiDAR sensor reads which square was hit. On this website a tap or click stands in for a throw.
Everyone knows the rules, so anyone can step up and play in seconds. Aim matters as much as strategy, because a wasted throw hands the advantage to your opponent.
How to play
- Take turns throwing at the grid; a hit claims that square in your colour.
- A ball on a taken square or off the grid wastes your throw.
- Throw before the timer ring runs out, or you lose your turn.
- Three in a row across, down or diagonally wins the round.
- A match is best of three rounds.

Game modes
Solo
Beat the computer's O's before the two-minute clock runs out, in as few throws as you can.
Vs computer
A virtual player at easy, medium or hard throws its own ball; best of three.
2 players
X and O alternate throws; best of three.
Tips
- Take the middle square first when you can.
- Corners are strong because each one sits on more than one line.
- Always block your opponent's two in a row.
- Aim for the centre of the square to avoid a wasted throw on a line.
- Do not rush: you have until the timer ring closes.
About the game
Noughts and crosses is played on paper, chalkboards and sand all over the world. Making it a throwing game adds skill and suspense, and short best-of-three matches keep a queue moving at an event.
On a phone the grid fills the screen. On a projector the giant grid becomes a crowd game that is easy to follow from across the room.
