Comet Hop is a one-tap space arcade game. Your comet circles a star, and a tap lets it go in a straight line along the direction it was heading. Fly close enough to another star and it pulls you into a new orbit.
It is easy to learn and hard to master, good for short breaks on a phone. Timing your release to line up the next star feels great, and the sky keeps changing as stars overheat and collapse.
How to play
- You circle a star; tap to let go and fly straight ahead.
- Pass close to another star and it catches you into orbit.
- Collect crystals; grab them in quick succession for x2, x3 and x4 chains. Gold crystals are worth 3.
- Stars overheat if you stay too long and fling you out, so keep hopping.
- Fly off the map and you fall: in solo you lose a life, in a duel you lose 2 points.
- Collapsing stars disappear and come back somewhere else.
Controls
On a phone or tablet
Tap anywhere to release. With two players, the left half taps for player one and the right half for player two.
On a computer
Click or press Space or Enter. Two players use A versus L.
Game modes
Solo
A 75-second round with three lives; collect as many crystals as you can.
Vs computer
Share the sky with an easy, medium or hard pilot and race for crystals.
2 players
Two comets on one screen. Crash into your rival to knock them loose.
Tips
- Follow the dotted line: it shows where you will fly when you tap.
- Stars you have not used cool down quickly, so a fresh star is a safe place to wait.
- Ring crystals only come to players who orbit, so circle a little before you leave.
- A rival orbiting your star heats it faster.
- Keep crystal pickups close together to hold your chain.
About the game
Comet Hop is a slingshot game built on orbital motion: you do not steer, you just choose when to let go. Small timing differences send you to very different places, which keeps every run fresh.
On a phone it is a tap-anywhere game. On a desktop one key does it all, and two players can share a keyboard or a screen.
