Yes Means No

Play Yes Means No now · free, no download, no sign-up
Yes Means No is a quick reaction game that turns your brain against itself. A simple yes or no question appears, such as whether fire is hot, and you have to answer the opposite of the truth before the timer runs out.
It is good for a few minutes of laughter alone or with friends. The questions are easy; the hard part is ignoring your first instinct while the game keeps changing the rules on you.
How to play
- Read the question and tap the answer that is the opposite of the truth.
- During a truth round, shown by a banner, you must answer honestly for a few questions.
- The yes and no buttons can swap colours and sides, so read the words, not the colours.
- Questions with NOT in them flip the meaning again.
- The time for each question gets shorter as you go. Right answers in a row build a combo up to x5.
- In solo you have three lives; three mistakes end the run.

One device, each player on their own half: the first right answer gets a point, a wrong answer loses one. Ninety seconds or first to 10.
Party (QR)
A whole room plays on their phones while the questions show on a big screen.
Tips
- Look at the banner first so you know whether it is an opposite round or a truth round.
- Green is not always yes: the buttons swap colours.
- A NOT question answered in opposite mode lands back on the truth.
- Speed adds a bonus, but a wrong answer costs a life, so do not rush blindly.
- Protect your combo: a steady run of right answers scores more than a few fast ones.
About the game
The idea comes from the old party game of answering the opposite, a classic test of attention where your reflexes keep giving you away. Truth rounds and swapped buttons stop you from settling into a habit.
On a phone two players can hold it between them and play face to face. On a desktop the keyboard makes it a fast reaction test.
